Meet Attorney Mark Lawrence

Mark W. Lawrence is a skilled negotiator with more than 25 years experience practicing law. Mark is uniquely qualified to serve Mainers and New Hampshirites. His vast knowledge of laws in both states and his location on the border between the two positions him as a valuable advocate for his clients and a resource to fellow attorneys.

When it comes to legal issues, Mark has seen it all. His deep understanding ranges from real estate transactions, boundary disputes, personal injury, divorce litigation, criminal matters, zoning issues, will contests, trusts, estate planning and bankruptcies for individuals and organizations. He is also passionate about issues regarding social responsibility, and is proud to be a trusted ally to those who may be discriminated against. As his colleagues say, he’s a lawyer “for the people.” Mark understands his clients–what’s important to them, what motivates them, what worries them–just as well as he understands the law. It’s his humanity that makes his clients proud to call him their lawyer.

A 12-year veteran of the Maine State Legislature, Mark was involved in writing many of the significant changes in Maine law in the 1990s. And as a two-term York county District Attorney, Mark prosecuted numerous criminal matters and oversaw all criminal and civil prosecutions brought by the 15 assistant district attorneys who worked for him in Maine’s second largest prosecutorial district. During his tenure, Mark’s office handled approximately 100,000 matters, giving him a unique perspective to fully understand all angles of the community in which he served.

Mark is admitted to the bar in Maine and New Hampshire and is a member of numerous legal societies including the York County Bar Association, the Maine State Bar Association, the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice. He established the Lawrence Charitable fund and annually donates a percentage of profits earned by the firm to assist programs within his community. He lives in South Berwick with his wife and daughters.
